The short answer
Garage cleanouts price by volume. A quarter truck is $241, three-eighths is $338, a half is $431, five-eighths is $513, three-quarters is $587 and a full truck is $732. Disposal is included in all of them and the visit minimum is $75.
A single-bay garage where one wall needs clearing is usually a quarter to three-eighths. A two-car garage that has not been parked in for five years is a half to three-quarters. A three-car garage in Gilbert, Peoria or Queen Creek that has absorbed a decade of a family's life is a full truck, occasionally more. You get the number from photos before anyone drives out.
No basements. That is the whole story.
Phoenix builds on slab. There is no basement, no attic worth using in a house that runs this hot, and no crawl space. Every cubic foot of household storage that other cities spread across three levels is compressed into one room with a roll-up door. That is why Valley garages fill faster and harder than garages anywhere else, and why the three-car garage — which looks like a luxury — is usually holding two cars' worth of stuff and one car.
It also means the garage clear is the default Phoenix junk-removal job. Not the living room, not the basement. The garage.
What the heat does to what is stored out there
An uninsulated garage on a west-facing lot runs far above outdoor air temperature through a Valley summer, and it does that for four straight months. The damage is predictable:
- Foam and vinyl go brittle and crumble. Old camping mats, pool floats, a stored mattress, the seat on the weight bench.
- Particleboard and flat-pack swell, delaminate and lose their fasteners. A flat-pack bookcase is $100 and a particleboard wardrobe is $143, and both look fine until you lift them.
- Adhesives let go. Veneer lifts off cabinets, chair joints open, laminate countertops offcuts separate.
- Paint, solvents and aerosols stored through repeated 120-degree cycles are worth dealing with deliberately rather than leaving another year. A one-gallon can is $30, a five-gallon bucket is $52.
- Tires dry-rot on the sidewall. A single tire is $22 and a set of four is $87.
The practical read: a Phoenix garage does not preserve anything. If it is out there "for later," later has usually already passed.

A common Valley set: a treadmill at $115, a weight bench at $69, free weights at $93 and a run of metal shelving at $71 comes to $115 + $69 + $93 + $71 = $348. Add ten bags of boxed-up clutter at $132 and it is a truck-fraction job instead.
The garage gym that did not survive
Phoenix has an unusually high density of garage gyms, for an obvious reason: you cannot run outside from May to September. The equipment goes into the garage, works for two winters, and then becomes the largest obstacle in the room.
Prices for the usual suspects: a treadmill is $115, or $175 for a non-folding or commercial unit. An elliptical is $97. A stationary exercise bike is $72 and a Peloton-style smart bike is $80. A rowing machine is $76. A squat rack or power cage is $123. A full home gym multi-station is $241. A punching bag is $71.
A garage gym going in one visit — treadmill at $115, squat rack at $123 and free weights at $93 — is $115 + $123 + $93 = $331. None of it needs to come apart before we arrive.
Access is easier here than almost anywhere
One genuine advantage of the Valley: the truck backs up to a wide driveway and the roll-up door opens directly onto it. No alley, no stairwell, no elevator booking, no permit to park. Most Phoenix garage jobs are a straight thirty-foot carry onto a truck, which is why they run quickly.
The variables worth mentioning at booking are the ones behind the garage: whether the side-yard gate or the RV gate is wide enough if something is stored in the back, and whether the community is guard-gated. Neither changes what you pay.
When to do it
Two sensible windows. October to April, because the garage is habitable and you can actually spend a Saturday sorting in it. Or late spring, deliberately, to get the heat-sensitive material out before the summer rather than after it.
The worst plan is July. Not because we will not come — we will — but because you will not do the sorting, and unsorted volume is what makes the number go up.
HOA note: in most master-planned Valley communities, staging the contents on the driveway for days while you sort is exactly what the CC&Rs are written to prevent. Sort inside the garage, book a slot, and let it go out in one movement.
